2017 “Find-Your-Role-Model” Session Series No. 36 held

36th “Find-Your-Role-Model” Session September 26, 2017

In the 36th "Find-Your-Role-Model" Session on September 26th, we welcomed Dr. Fujiwara, a professor of public health promotion at TMDU. Dr. Fujiwara graduated from TMDU in 2000 and went on to achieve his Master of Public Health (MPH) at Harvard School of Public Health.
In this session, he first explained about his career, then spoke on various themes: from what is MPH and why he studied abroad in the U.S. to what troubles he had in his life there. Compared to a clinician’s, a career in public health may be somewhat unfamiliar to us, so we were delighted that he showed us a very clear route regarding that field: working in a medical consulting firm or an international heath institution like WHO. Also, he had a detailed talk about MPH which only a few people in Japan are aware of. Furthermore, he spoke about how different it is to do research in Japan compared to in the U.S. This information he shared was a good opportunity for us to think about our career plans in foreign countries.
