2017 “Find-Your-Role-Model” Session Series No. 37 held

37th “Find-Your-Role-Model” Session October 24, 2017

In the 37th “Find-Your-Role-Model Session” on October 24, we invited Dr. Kevin L. Ard from Harvard Medical School. Dr. Ard finished his MD at Washington University and MPH at Harvard School of Public Health. His specialty is infectious diseases, especially HIV, and he now works as a physician at the Infectious Disease department at Massachusetts General Hospital and as an educator at Harvard Medical School.
In the session, he shared his career path and his most helpful experiences throughout his life with us. He also explained how infectious diseases is an important and attractive field to tackle as a physician; “you don’t know what’s going to happen next in the field of infectious diseases and that makes it interesting.” We also had an active Q&A session with Dr. Ard kindly answering all the questions from the floor. One student asked about how to decide what to do in the future and Dr. Ard replied, “You might think the decision you make now seems a great deal, but when you look back, it’s only a small thing and you should be proud of yourself.” The students on the floor were all stimulated by his words and the session was a thoroughly fruitful time for the participants.
