Health Sciences Leadership Program開講式を開催しました

On Tuesday, October 11th, a matriculation ceremony was held to welcome 28 new members to the HSLP program! These first-year medical and nursing students have all expressed a strong desire to succeed as global leaders in the health sciences. We had four speakers. Dean Eishi gave a welcoming speech sharing information about international experiences that are available to students and encouraging them to broaden their horizons. A new HSLP member, Takahiro Kaneko, addressed his fellow classmates, speaking about his reasons for applying to the program and his future goals. His comments about wanting to help make a change for those around the world living with different diseases echoed the commitment and interests of all those in the new cohort. Keisuke Ogasawara, a fourth-year member from our first cohort, who had just returned from a research semester in Ghana, expressed the valuable experiences he has had as an HSLP student and how those helped him during his stay in Ghana. His words offered encouragement and insight to the incoming class. Lastly, program director Prof. Takada welcomed students and explained the goals of and learning in HSLP and the aspects of our unique community.

We are very excited to welcome so many new students, and are looking forward to their contribution to our growing community. We wish them luck as they begin their courses in HSLP this month!
