What is Discussion Café?

D-Café provides a rich environment for discussion in English of current controversial topics. This is a fantastic opportunity to network with students from Japan and The United States and practice expressing your opinions in English!

Discussion Topic

1.Ice Breaking:

The pandemic of COVID-19 shocked the world. However, the policies implemented to deal with this pandemic and the environment surrounding us must be different between Japan and the United States. What have you learned or thought in the past year? Before we get to the main topic, let's share!

2.The skills and vision important for healthcare professionals during and after the pandemic:

Throughout the world, healthcare professionals dealing with COVID-19 have faced many barriers. The situation is continually changing, and they need to act according to circumstances.

What kinds of skill are needed for healthcare professionals in this era, and after this pandemic? What should we do in order to acquire those skills?

Furthermore, what would be an appropriate common vision among healthcare workers during this pandemic, and during a new one? How can we adjust the vision when there are disagreements? Please share your ideas and opinions.

3.How we should prepare for the next pandemic in the future:

We are still in the pandemic now, and we are required to stay at home as much as possible. However, this situation will not last forever. When we can move around wherever we want and speak with people without face masks, what kinds of things will happen? We will have a totally different set of norms once the pandemic comes to an end. How should we prepare for this future? Let’s share and discuss your ideas and opinions!

・Please download the Zoom app and enter the meeting with your own account using the designated display name, which will be informed the day before the meeting.
・ID and password for the meeting will be also sent the day before the meeting.
