We would like to proudly announce that our second-year HSLP students, Eriko Tanimoto, Ryo Higashide, and Daiki Tomidokoro won second place in the final round of the Go Global Japan forum held on December 6. Their presentation named “Put it Out, and Light the Future” explored the relationship between poverty and smoking in developing countries, and proposed a very innovative and feasible solution using Karuta in the effort to prevent young children from picking up this expensive habit and break the vicious circle of poverty, smoking, and ill health. They worked very hard over the past two months, and their presentation today was astonishing! It was to-the-point, passionate, and moving, and the message was very clear. They made us so proud. This challenge indeed pushed them to the edge and they really grew and built confidence. Terrific job and congratulations to three of you!
