25th “Find-Your-Role-Model” Session (1st in 2016 Series)

We have been holding a series of events called “Find-Your-Role-Model” Session to provide students with opportunities to interact with TMDU alumni and worldwide leaders in health sciences. Through this roundtable-type, relaxed atmosphere event, we hope students will be able to find their role models in order to facilitate their career development in becoming future global leaders.

In the first FYRM session of academic year 2016 we will be hosting Dr. Sadakatsu Ikeda, who was appointed assistant professor in TMDU's Cancer Center from this March. A graduate of Hokkaido University School of Medicine, he did his residency and fellowship at St. Luke’s International Hospital, Tokyo; then went on to become a research fellow at Children’s Hospital Boston/Harvard Medical School. Following this he did a general medicine residency at Beth Israel Medical Center, and an Internal Medicine fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at The University of Michigan. In 2014 he joined The University of California, San Diego where he has been successful in Precision Medicine research. This session will be carried out in a round-table discussion format, and will cover the following points. Everyone is welcome to join us in a hearty discussion.

  • Who is your mentor, and what inspired/ motivated your career?
  • What are the advantages of being a physician, or a patient, in the U.S. compared to in Japan?
