We have been holding a series of events called “Find-Your-Role-Model” Session to provide students with opportunities to interact with TMDU alumni and worldwide leaders in health sciences. Through this roundtable-type, relaxed atmosphere event, we hope students will be able to find their role models in order to facilitate their career development in becoming future global leaders.

In the third FYRM session of academic year 2016 we will be hosting Dr. Gerald Hsu, Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Graduate of Duke University School of Medicine, he continued there to receive his PhD in Biochemistry. He did his Internship, Residency, and Chief Residency at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston. His Fellowship was served at UCSF in Medical Oncology. Before accepting his current position at UCSF he was an Instructor at Harvard School of Medicine. This session will be carried out in a round-table discussion format, and will cover the following points. Everyone is welcome to join us in a hearty discussion.

• Reasons for becoming an oncologist; the future of this specialty (effective treatment, variation of diseases)
• How to balance clinical work and research work
• Life as an instructor in a US medical school
• Preparation tips or suggestions for those who want to have clinical training in the US in the future
• Experiences during your university days that were beneficial to your career
