2016 Academic English Summer Course（formerly TOEFL Intensive Course）
As part of TMDU's Top Global University Project, we will be holding a Summer Intensive Course for students who would like to improve their English ability as well as their TOEFL score. For those that are interested in participating, please submit the application form following the application procedure below. Application deadline is June 27 (Mon.) 5 p.m.

【Course description】
This course is for students who want to improve their English skills. There are two choices of course as follows:
•SW: Speaking and writing (no text required, but you must still take either the official TOEFL iBT or the iBT Practice Test at the end of the course)
•TOEFL: Speaking, listening, reading, and writing (Official Guide to the TOEFL Test with CD-ROM, 4th Edition ISBN 978-1-259-01050-7 required) **Purchase at: COOP in B1, Building 5**
Capacity
Limited to 60 students/ week（Maximum class size is 12 students）
Eligibility
All TMDU students (Undergraduates and graduates from all faculties)
Selection
Should applicants exceed 200, selection will be based on need and academic attitude.
Place
M&D Tower, and Building 1 classrooms（Rooms will be announced after acceptance）
Sessions
Choose from the following.（Indicate order of preference on application form）
- （Week A）7/25～29
- （Week B）8/01～05
- （Week C）8/15～19
- （Week D）8/22～26
Time
M-F, 10 a.m.～3 p.m. (120 min X 2、Break 12:00－13:00)
Cost
SW: Around 4,000 yen for on-campus exam
TOEFL: Around 8,000 yen (text around 4,000 yen + on-campus exam fee around 4,000 yen)（If taking the official TOEFL iBT test off campus, examination fee is around US$230）
Requirements
- (1)Participants must attend all five classes, and substitutions are only available for the same day of a following week. Attendance is taken seriously and will be presented to the Education Committee if you do not follow the requirements. This information also may be taken into account when applying for overseas training. We will only accept requests for schedule changes until July 11(M); no change in scheduling course requests will be considered after that date.
- (2)Participants are required to take either the TOEFL iBT Practice Test, which will be given on campus, or the official TOEFL iBT test provided by CIEE off campus. TOEFL iBT Practice Tests are scheduled to be held on August 8, 17, and 30, further details will be given after enrollment. If taking the official TOEFL iBT test off campus, you must take it within two months of attending the course and submit a photocopy of the off-campus score report to the Global Advancement Administrative Unit. **Please note, the TOEFL iBT Practice Test is not authorized by ETS as an official test, so the score is not valid for official uses. However, it can be used on campus for applying to HSLP and other programs provided by Institute of Global Affairs.
