29th “Find-Your-Role-Model” Session (5th in 2016 Series)
In the fifth FYRM session of academic year 2016 we will be hosting Dr. Akiko Matsumoto, an alumna of TMDU. After 11 years of experience both in clinical and research fields, she joined the National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA, now JAXA: Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) and went on to acquire a master's degree in aerospace medicine at Wright State University in the U.S.A. Afterwards, she has supported a number of manned space missions, including those with astronauts Naoko Yamazaki, Koichi Wakata, and Kimiya Yui as their Crew Surgeon. Currently, she is involved in the medical and psychological support of astronaut Takuya Onishi during his stay on the International Space Station, and holds the Chair position in the International Working Group concerning Space Medicine. This session will be carried out in a round-table discussion format, and will cover the following points. Everyone is welcome to join us in a hearty discussion.
