38th “Find-Your-Role-Model” Session (5th in 2017 Series)

We have been holding a series of events called “Find-Your-Role-Model” Session to provide students with opportunities to interact with TMDU alumni and worldwide leaders in health sciences. Through this roundtable-type, relaxed atmosphere event, we hope students will be able to find their role models in order to facilitate their career development in becoming future global leaders.

In the fifth FYRM session of academic year 2017 we will be hosting Dr. Gauden Galea, a public health physician who has been working for WHO since 1998, and held the directorship of the European Regional Office since January 2011. He was regional adviser on non-communicable diseases in the Western Pacific Region where he contributed to the work on developing a national stepwise approach to NCDs. He has a special interest in health promotion, in the social determinants of non-communicable diseases, and in the links between these diseases and the development agenda. This session will be carried out in a round-table discussion format, and will cover the following points. Everyone is welcome to join us in a hearty discussion.

  • How to tackle the problem of NCDs effectively
  • The role of WHO in tackling NCDs on a regional and global scale
  • Gaining trust and cooperation when working with multi-sectorial partners
