We have been holding a series of events called “Find-Your-Role-Model” Session to provide students with opportunities to interact with TMDU alumni and worldwide leaders in health sciences. Through this roundtable-type, relaxed atmosphere event, we hope students will be able to find their role models in order to facilitate their career development in becoming future global leaders.

For the fourth FYRM session of academic year 2018 we will be hosting Harvard University faculty member Dr. Wakimoto. A TMDU alumni, Dr. Wakimoto completed a PhD in neurosurgery and has lead several research projects as Principal Investigator (PI) focused on the development of treatment for brain tumors. For the 12 years while at Harvard, Dr. Wakimoto has focused on Translational Research and promoting and developing new forms of treatment using patient-derived brain tumor stem cells.

This session will be carried out in a round-table discussion format, and will cover the following points:

• Current research and advice for student and junior researchers
• Differences in research careers and environment in the US and Japan
• Roles models that influenced his career path
• Challenges of Translational Research
