59th “Find-Your-Role-Model” Session (6th in 2020 Series)

We have been holding a series of events called “Find-Your-Role-Model” Session to provide students with opportunities to interact with TMDU alumni and worldwide leaders in health sciences. Through this roundtable-type, relaxed atmosphere event, we hope students will be able to find their role models in order to facilitate their career development in becoming future global leaders.

We will host Dr. Arinobu Tojo, hospital director of the Institute of Medical Science at the University of Tokyo. After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine, Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Dr. Tojo obtained his Doctorate in Medical Science at the University of Tokyo. Since then, he has worked as a “clinician scientist”, at the Institute of Medical Science at the University of Tokyo, greatly contributing to the advancement of “translational research”. This research aims at clinical application of the fruits of basic science, especially in the field of hematology and oncology. In 2005, he accepted the post of professor at this institute and in 2018, he was inaugurated as the director of IMSUT Hospital. Currently, he is engaged in translational research in clinical application of AI for the diagnosis and treatment of leukemia.

This session will be carried out in a round-table discussion format, and will cover the following points. Everyone is welcome to join us in a hearty discussion.

Topics

  • Personal Background and Vision/Mission: Personal background, vision and mission behind aspiration to become a clinician scientist, how he made his decision at a turning point in his career
