2016年度 ASSERTコースが閉講しました

To prepare for their 4th year project semester abroad, 20 medical and dental students have been participating in our Academic Skills for Successful Exchange Research students course. Monday was the final session in this seven-week course where students prepared presentations on their intended area of research, conducting a good deal of independent study to familiarize themselves with their topic and its significance. Each student also gave a short presentation on a topic of their choice related to Japanese society, to expand knowledge of their home country and prepare for serving as representatives of Japan and TMDU while overseas.  Finally, Dr. Ikeda, from TMDU's newly established Cancer Center, ran two journal club-type sessions as a guest lecturer to help hone their critical thinking skills.

These activates are all designed to prepare students for taking part in research activities in university laboratories around the world where they will work with front-running scientists studying topics as diverse as type 2 diabetes, blast injuries, sarcoma metastasis, diarrheal disease, and the genetics of influenza immune response.

We wish a very hearty good luck to all our students as they begin their research abroad!!
