Lively Discussion Café Brings Students Together to Talk About Stress

Our 9th Discussion Café, an ongoing collaboration between TMDU and Waseda University, was held this past Saturday, January 27th and brought together over 50 students with diverse backgrounds from both universities.

In order to explore the theme, Stress: A Social Problem, students used creative brainstorming techniques to capture the causes and outcomes of stress today. They then worked to imagine potential solutions, which were shared across groups at the end of the discussion. The event was very lively and students clearly enjoyed the opportunity to talk together in English and meet new people.

Discussion Café is a fantastic opportunity to practice English communication skills as well as to network with students from a wide variety of majors, career goals and cultural backgrounds. This event wouldn't have been possible without the hard work of TMDU's student task force, which included both undergraduate HSLP students and international graduate students, and the assistance of Waseda's ICC staff who all worked very hard to prepare for this event! The next Discussion Café will be held in the summer on Waseda's campus. We hope to see you all there!
