On Saturday, July 20th, 2024, TMDU hosted the Tokyo Institute of Technology & TMDU Discussion Café to foster networking between students of the two universities, which are set to merge into the Institute of Science Tokyo this October. Approximately 30 students, including undergraduates, graduates, and international students from both universities, gathered to discuss and develop solutions to prepared problems. During the discussions, participants from different majors shared their knowledge, enriching the overall conversation.
In the first half of the event, participants were divided into groups of five to six students to discuss the issues. Despite varying levels of confidence in English, all participants actively engaged in the discussions, filling the flip boards with numerous ideas. Some groups even continued their debates during the break. After about 30 minutes of discussion, in the final half of the session, each group presented their solutions to everyone. The groups came up with creative and unique ideas, and the presentations themselves reflected each group’s originality; some groups selected a presenter, while others performed skits involving all members. 
Overall, the event was a valuable opportunity for students to interact with each other and think about medical-engineering collaboration.
