2025 HSLP Retreat
On December 20th, 2025, the 12th annual HSLP Retreat was held at the M&D tower Faculty Lounge. This annual event is a major gathering where HSLP students and alumni come together to reflect on past achievements and inspire each other for the future.
This year’s Retreat began with a humorous MC performance by Tomoki, followed by opening remarks from Prof. Foss. This was followed by presentations showcasing the diversity of HSLP experiences. Reports were given on student-led events such as Sports Festival, ChatATP, FYRM, D-cafe, Research Community, Society Meeting, and Networking Hour. Over the past year, HSLP has engaged in a wide range of initiatives, including the planning and implementation of new projects and the relaunch of Slack to strengthen connections between current students and alumni.
After reviewing all the events and introducing the new rep/chief members, an introduction video filmed by the freshmen who joined in fall 2025 was screened, filling the lounge with a heartwarming atmosphere.
Afterwards, we invited four alumni to the OB & OG Talk, where they kindly shared their journeys so far and offered insightful and valuable advice based on their experiences. Following the OB & OG Talk, many students approached the alumni to ask questions.
We also held a Discussion and Free Talk session, during which many students built and deepened connections with peers from different departments and academic years.
Later in the Retreat, the ENVISION TALK was given by four students, who generously shared their inspiring stories and enthusiasm for the future. Their words gave all of us great motivation and courage to envision our own paths forward.
The results of the Society Points system, which was introduced this year, were also announced and Victor Emil Frankl Society was crowned as its inaugural year winner.
Finally, we received messages from our supervisor, Dr. Hasegawa, and Professor Moross, bringing the 2025 event to a close.
We hope that the 2025 HSLP Retreat served as a meaningful opportunity for participants to reflect on the past year and feel newly motivated for the year ahead.
We wish everyone good health and continued success, as well as the growth and prosperity of our community in the coming year!
